My life in 10 years!
By Tonje Buan
Today, I work my last year as an apprentice in the company Ernst & Young in Oslo. My job as a chartered accountant is to keep accounts of other companies, and to answer any questions the customer may have.
My dream has always been to become something in the auditing profession, because I love working with numbers. To become an accountant, you must enjoy working with numbers, be accurate, have sense of order and the ability to cooperate. I like this profession, as I have several of these properties. I have done a lot of work to get where I am now. First I went to the usual ten years at primary school, before I went on to three years in high school. Here I studied languages, social sciences and economics, the second and third year. To become an accountant, you need bachelor’s degree. That means you need to go three years at the university. I went to the university in Oslo; in addition I went two years at BI to get master, so I could be a chartered accountant. Now I’m in the last year of my practice in three years.
It was not necessary for me to get any student loan to complete my education. While I studied, I worked at Vero Moda in Karl Johan in Oslo. I worked there every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from four o’clock to nine o’clock. There I earned good with money. I had also worked at Rema 1000 since I was 15 years old, but that ended when I started at university in Oslo. From there I also earned some money for my studies.
As I said earlier, I work as a chartered accountant in Oslo. I work a hundred percent position, which I enjoy. I’m an active girl who trains several times a week, next to my job and my family life. My family life is just as I wanted it to be, with two children and a husband. Now we are living in Nittedal, which we thrive.
